What´s a witch to do when her magic is on the fritz and there´s a huge pile of laundry to be done? Easy. Flood the entire house. Everyone wants a bubbly indoor freakin´ swimming pool...right? Just when everything is right in my life, something has to go wrong - times three. Number one: an unknown evil force wants to steal my power. Now, instead of protecting and healing the whacked-out inhabitants of Assjacket, my power has wonked out on me, and I´ve blasted ginormous holes all over town. Not to mention Roger the Rabbit is now sporting a pentagon of penii thanks to me and is keen on contacting the Guinness Book of World Records. Unacceptable. Armed with questionable voodoo skills and seriously frayed nerves, I´m two: gonna do what any partially-sane, potty-mouthed witch would do.... I´m calling in the semi-evil, butt-ugly Bermangoggleshitz to train me. The warlock´s penchant for push-ups makes me hate him with the fire of a thousand suns, but if I can´t control my dark magic, it will control me. Way unacceptable. With Sassy and Cookie Witch by my side, I´ll three: get a handle on my dark voodoo - or doodoo, as I´ve renamed it - so Assjacket won´t end up as one massive crater. And I need all the help I can get. An evil like we´ve never seen is gunning for us - specifically me. Wildly unacceptable. We´ll be the Three Amigos. The Three Musketeers. The Three Stooges. Whatever. As the saying goes...three´s a crowd, three´s company, three´s a party. Nope. Three´s a charm. And I´m gonna turn it on for all I´m worth. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Stephanie Riggio. Since the invention of the bicycle, people have raced them. The advent of the pneumatic tyre meant that these races could take place on any road in any country - cycle road racing was born. In just over a century the Tour de France has become the most watched sporting event, and the Giro d’Italia, Vuela d’Espagne and Spring Classics are expanding to fill the entire year with competitions which are watched by millions of fans, and the routes are cycled by hundreds of thousands of amateurs keen to discover what it is like to ride 200 arduous kilometres in one day, in some cases over the steepest of routes. Intertwined with these competitions is the history and, most importantly, the characters who have graced the road cycling stage. Merckx, Indurain, Coppi, Pantani, Binda, Rominger and Hinault are names that have been raised to mythical status. The Call of the Road reveals the epic battles of all of the racing seasons since the first Tour de France, looking beyond the results to see the drama - not just on the road but within the teams and between individuals - and the politics and scandal that continue to fascinate cycle road race fans everywhere. 1. A wonderful, warm novel from a major new American voice. In The Art of Fielding, we see young men who know that their four years on the baseball diamond at Westish College are all that remain of their sporting careers. Only their preternaturally gifted fielder, Henry Skrimshander, seems to have the chance to keep his dream – and theirs, vicariously – alive, until a routine throw goes disastrously off course, and the fates of five people are upended. After his throw threatens to ruin his roommate Owen’s future, Henry’s fight against self-doubt threatens to ruin his; while Mike Schwartz, the team captain and Henry’s best friend, realizes he has guided Henry’s career at the expense of his own. Keeping a keen eye on them all, college president Guert Affenlight, a long time bachelor, falls unexpectedly and dangerously in love, much to the surprise of his daughter, Pella, who has returned to Westish after escaping an ill-fated marriage, determined to start a new life. Written with boundless intelligence and filled with the tenderness of youth, The Art of Fielding is an expansive, warm-hearted novel about ambition and its limits, about family and friendship and love, and about commitment – to oneself and to others. 1. Winner of The 2019, 2005, 2002, 2001 and 1997 Masters. In Unprecedented: Me and The Masters, Tiger Woods shares in his own words the story of the original Masters tournament that took him to greatness, all of which has paved the way for one of the most phenomenal comebacks in sporting history. In 1997, Tiger Woods was already among the most watched and closely examined athletes in history. But it wasn´t until the Masters Tournament that Tiger Woods´s career would definitively change for ever. Tiger Woods, then only 21, won the Masters by a historic 12 shots, which remains the widest margin of victory in the tournament´s history, making it arguably among the most seminal events in golf. He was the first African-American/Asian player to win the Masters, and this at the Augusta National Golf Club, perhaps the most exclusive club in the world, and one that had in 1990 admitted its first black member. More than 20 years after his first historic win, Tiger Woods explores his life with the game, with the Masters tournament itself, about how golf has changed over the past 20 years, and what it was like winning such an event. Woods will also open up about his relationship with father Earl Woods, dispelling previous misconceptions, and will candidly reveal many never-before-heard stories. Written by one of the game´s all-time greats, this book will provide keen insight on the Masters then and now, as well as on the sport itself. 1. Language: English. Having a good education is very important, as it will eventually contribute positively to a better life for the individual. Therefore most parents take the trouble and time to search for the best school for their children to ensure their good start in life. Some schools are known for their academic excellence while others may be noted for the excellent sporting programs. The parent would really have to decide which would be more suitable for their needs and those of the child in question. If this decision proves to be a challenge at this stage, then finding a school which is competent in both areas would also be acceptable. Convenience would also usually be another point to look into as no parent really wants their child to have to sit through a one hour ride just to get to school and another one hour ride to get home. This is also important from an emergency angle where the parent would be able to reach the child´s school within the shortest time possible. Taking the time to check up on the school by speaking to others who have children already attending the facility would also be another way to gauge the suitability of the school. There is also the need to check the requirements, if any, that need to be met in order to be successfully admitted to the school. 1. Language: English. Narrator: M R Keen. Random House presents the unabridged downloadable audiobook edition of Built for Speed by John McGuinness, read by Joe McGann. ´Then I was there myself, just another face in the crowd, watching the bikes fly by. The smells, the noise and the speed were all there for me to experience. It was like a massive injection in my head and it just blew my mind. I knew within seconds that I was going to be a TT racer. I didn´t know how or what I was going to have to do to achieve this, and my dad wasn´t going to be keen. Everyone around me was aware of the dangers, but from that moment I knew I had to do it.´ John McGuinness is one of the all-time giants of road racing, with a huge host of victories to his name. But his easy humour and down-to-earth attitude off the bike have always kept people guessing: what´s the truth about the man inside the helmet that has kept him at the top of such a sport for over 20 years? His autobiography tells the whole story, from his humble beginnings in Morecambe and getting his first bike at the age of three, to working as a bricklayer and cockle fisherman before deciding to follow his dream, and finally to his many victories in the most dangerous sporting event on the planet. He tells of what it takes to be a champion in such an exacting sport and to keep winning even though all logic tells you to stop - and when so many of your fellow racers are paying the ultimate price for doing it. This thrilling autobiography gets into the head of the man who stares death in the face and doesn´t even flinch. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Joe McGann.
